Gov. Phil Murphy wasn’t feeling the Jersey love when he made an appearance on stage at a Red Bank diner where a local band was performing.
The lead singer of the band invited Murphy to hop on the stage during the performance, which took place the day before Independence Day, with video showing the governor uncomfortable as the crowd mercilessly booed him.
“Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, what did I tell you guys? Hey. Listen to me. Listen to me. He didn’t want to hear that. He’s a buddy of mine. This is not about politics. He’s a friend of mine. Do not do that. Please. Out of respect for my friend,” the band leader admonished the crowd.
