An event will be held at K’hal Zichron Yaakov, 175 Sunset Road in Lakewood, on Thursday night to mark the shloshim of R’ Ezzy Newhouse z”l. Mincha will take place at 8:00 p.m., with the program continuing with a siyum, seuda, and speeches.
R’ Ezzy was a longtime resident of the 7th Street and Forest Avenue neighborhood, near the main Beth Medrash Govoha campus, where he became a familiar and respected presence among the yungeleit and the broader kehilla. His gentle demeanor and warm personality left a deep impression on countless individuals.
Over the years, R’ Ezzy was a beloved ninth-grade rebbi in Belmar and later in Adelphia, inspiring generations of talmidim with his dedication and sincerity. Beyond the classroom, he was renowned for visiting local Lakewood chadorim to promote the importance of not talking during davening, encouraging eighth graders to uphold this standard with incentives such as a set of Shas or Shulchan Aruch for those who succeeded through the year.
