The Lakewood Commons neighborhood was shaken on Sunday night by a chilling attempted kidnapping that has left residents worried and authorities on high alert.
At approximately 8:45 PM, multiple frantic calls flooded the Lakewood Shomrim hotline, reporting a disturbing scene unfolding at the neighborhood park: a masked man had attempted to snatch a young girl.
According to eyewitnesses and the victim herself, a male suspect—clad entirely in black and wearing a ski mask—approached a group of girls playing in the park and suddenly lunged at one of them. He grabbed the child and attempted to drag her toward the nearby wooded area.
But the would-be kidnapper was met with unexpected resistance. The young girl, demonstrating remarkable courage, fought back with all her strength. Her struggle ultimately forced the attacker to release her and flee the scene on foot.
Shomrim responded and officers from the Lakewood Police Department arrived shortly after. Despite a search, the suspect was not immediately located. An active investigation is now underway.
In the aftermath of the frightening incident, authorities are urging parents to speak with their children about personal safety and to emphasize the importance of staying in groups, remaining alert, and reporting anything suspicious.
Anyone with information about the suspect or the incident is strongly encouraged to contact the Lakewood Police Department.
The world is getting crazier by the day. We all need to move to Israel. And make sure to carry guns LEGALLY and train with that gun so you can protect yourself, your family, and others around you.
lol, it is not legal to own a gun in israel barring specific circumstances.
Then move to the area where you’re allowed to own a gun. I live in the Gush and we do carry. In central places there is invisible police presence so there is less need.
As if Israel is safe.. Get real. Little girls are not going to start carrying guns either.
Hashem is in Lakewood too its not the gun who will protect you
Everybody moving to Israel is neither practical or sensible. What everybody NEEDS is to be aware of their surroundings and not be lulled into a false sense of security simply because of the community in which we live. Remember, things like this can happen ANYWHERE.Just think how many times people have reacted to some terrible incident with the famous words “We never thought something like that could happen here. This was always a safe neighborhood.” With so many children within the community, it’s like a candy store for sick individuals to go shopping. Talk to your children and make them aware to be on alert for anybody who looks or behaves in a concerning manner.
Have they found the kidnapper?
