Asm. Schnall in Collaboration with Local Organizations Hosts Educational Event for Seniors [PHOTOS]

Assemblyman Avi Schnall (NJ-30), in collaboration with The Square, Agudath Israel’s Zahav initiative, the Lakewood Community Services Corporation (LCSC), and the Lakewood Resource and Referral Center (LRRC), hosted a highly informative event focused on fraud prevention and property tax reimbursement through New Jersey’s ANCHOR property tax rebate program. The event took place on Tuesday evening at Khal Zichron Yaakov in Lakewood, and was attended by seniors aged 55 and above.

The educational event aimed to equip seniors with the knowledge and tools needed to protect themselves from fraud and to take full advantage of the benefits offered by the state. Assemblyman Schnall, who played a crucial role in developing the Zahav initiative before becoming a legislator, expressed his pride in participating in this essential event to support and protect the senior community.

“Ensuring our seniors are well-informed and safeguarded against fraud while receiving the benefits they deserve is of utmost importance,” said Assemblyman Schnall. “I am honored to have collaborated with such esteemed organizations and professionals to bring this vital information to our community.”

The event featured insightful presentations from Christina Quinones of the New Jersey Department of Treasury, who provided detailed information on the ANCHOR property tax rebate program. Additionally, Lakewood police officers Jeff Emmons and Joe Soriano delivered essential tips on fraud prevention, emphasizing the importance of staying vigilant and skeptical of strangers.

The successful turnout and positive feedback from attendees underscore the necessity of such initiatives. Assemblyman Schnall and the participating organizations remain committed to continuing their efforts to educate and protect the senior population in Lakewood and beyond.
