Lakewood Township is inviting residents and visitors to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a special Independence Day event featuring the Township’s first-ever aerial drone light show in addition to its traditional fireworks display.
The celebration will take place on Sunday, July 5, over Lake Carasaljo, and can be viewed from both North Lake Drive and South Lake Drive. The drone light show, presented by Orion Skys Drones, is scheduled to begin at 8:45 p.m., followed by the fireworks display at approximately 9:00 p.m.
According to Mayor Ray Coles, Township officials have explored adding a drone light show to the annual Independence Day celebration for several years. With the assistance of Department of Public Works Director Phil Roux and other Township officials, that vision is becoming a reality this year as part of the nationwide celebration marking America’s 250th anniversary.
The drone show will feature coordinated aerial displays and animations set to music above the lake before transitioning into the fireworks show, creating a unique experience for spectators.
“This year’s Independence Day celebration will truly be unlike any the Township has ever hosted before,” Mayor Coles said. “We look forward to celebrating this historic national milestone together with our friends and neighbors from throughout the Lakewood region.”
Township officials encourage residents to arrive early and enjoy what promises to be one of Lakewood’s most memorable Independence Day celebrations.
