Amazon Delivery Van Destroyed In Manchester Fire

On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at approximately 1:27 P.M. officers from the Manchester Township Police Department responded to the intersection of Manchester Boulevard and Central Avenue in the Whiting section of the Township for the report of a vehicle fire.  When officers arrived, they observed an Amazon delivery van which was completely engulfed in flames.  Officers immediately confirmed that the vehicle was unoccupied and there was no immediate danger to surrounding residents and motorists.

The Manchester Fire Department and Whiting Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and quickly extinguished the fire.  Members of Manchester Township Emergency Medical Services also responded to the scene to assist but there were no injuries reported.  Manchester Boulevard was closed between Lakewood Avenue and Manchester Avenue for approximately 30 minutes.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, but an initial evaluation did not reveal any indications of suspicious activity.  The fire is under investigation by the Manchester Police Department and Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office.
