Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill has tapped three prominent figures from the local Orthodox Jewish community to serve on her transition team, signaling an effort to bring diverse voices into the incoming administration’s policymaking process.
Agudah New Jersey Director Shlomo Schorr, Mrs. Chanie Jacobowitz of BMG’s Government Affairs and Compliance Department, CHEMED Chief Medical Officer Dr. Dovid Friedman, and Jackson philanthropist Pinny (Phil) Bak were each appointed to key advisory panels expected to shape early policy decisions for the Sherrill administration.
Schorr — widely regarded for his ability to work across political divides and for his advocacy on issues ranging from education to infrastructure to quality-of-life concerns — was named to the Interdisciplinary Advisory Task Force, a broad coalition of leaders from across New Jersey’s labor, business, veterans, healthcare, and education sectors. Mrs. Jacobowitz and Dr. Friedman were also appointed to the same task force.
The panel’s role will be to provide the governor-elect with a wide range of perspectives as she prepares her administration’s policy agenda.
Meanwhile, Pinny Bak — long active in philanthropic and healthcare-access initiatives in Jackson and throughout the region — was appointed to the “Affordable Healthcare: Addressing Washington’s Medicaid Cuts” working group. The panel will focus on preparing New Jersey for potential federal funding shortfalls and exploring strategies to safeguard coverage for vulnerable populations.

As a patient of Chemed, I have a very important question. When I go to my Dr’s in chemed, I pay my co pay. On top of that I get a bill from CHEMED for $48.00. Why can’t Chemed be under the insurance? I’m a Senior Citizen and can’t pay the extra charge from Chemed.
Hi, its not all what your see and all about money!! I hope your receiving the best healthcare as a senior. Please call your local Office on Aging to get assistance with your bill. Thank you.
Still waiting for the tuition relief from the big beautiful bill, that the Governor will need to agree to.
Ridiculous. The campaign was about “ messaging” not governing.
