The Manchester Township Police Department on Tuesday held a retirement ceremony honoring Lieutenant Paul Bachovchin, marking the conclusion of his 27-year career in law enforcement.

Lieutenant Bachovchin began his career with the department in 1999, initially serving in the Patrol Division. Over the years, he became a leader in traffic safety, crash investigation, and officer training. He was a certified D.A.R.E. instructor, Radar Operator Instructor, and an educator at the Ocean County Police Academy, while continuing to respond to and investigate serious and fatal motor vehicle crashes throughout his career.
He was promoted to Sergeant in 2016 and later to Lieutenant. In those roles, he completed extensive leadership training, including the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy, and served in several supervisory capacities, including Honor Guard Unit Supervisor and Court Liaison Supervisor.
Bachovchin also earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
In addition to his operational duties, Bachovchin was active in labor leadership, serving six years as President of PBA Local 246 and three years as President of the Superior Officers Association. He founded and led the PBA 246 Charity Golf Outing for approximately 15 years, raising more than $300,000 for local charities, and is a founding board member of the Manchester Township Police Foundation.
Throughout his career, Lieutenant Bachovchin served in multiple specialized units, mentored fellow officers, and received numerous commendations recognizing his service, leadership, and dedication.
Department officials thanked Bachovchin for his commitment to public service and wished him well in his retirement.
