Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst will conduct an active shooter exercise on Thursday to test its emergency response and preparedness, base officials announced.
The exercise aims to simulate a real-world incident, allowing base personnel and emergency responders to practice their coordinated response efforts. “During the exercise, the base and local community can expect an increased presence of emergency responders, such as police, fire, and medical services,” officials said.
In addition to the heightened activity, residents in and around the base should be prepared for “giant voice notifications, sirens, simulated gunfire, and other loud noises heard across the installation,” according to the announcement.
The exercise is expected to cause gate closures, delays, and increased traffic on the base throughout the day, officials added.
