3 Injured, 1 Seriously, In Toms River Multifamily Complex Blaze

At approximately 3:20 a.m. Monday morning, a structure fire occurred at a residence on Kettle Creek Road, prompting a response from the Toms River Township Police and Fire Departments.

Upon arrival, first responders found heavy fire coming from the front of the structure, but fortunately, the three residents had escaped.

All three were transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment, with two being treated and released, and the third being transferred to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for further evaluation.

During the extinguishing process, three firefighters sustained minor injuries. An extensive investigation was conducted by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Arson Squad, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Toms River Township Police Department Detective Bureau, and Toms River Township Bureau of Fire Prevention.

The investigation revealed that the cause of the fire was accidental, and a failure of energized electrical equipment is believed to have contributed to the fire.
