Over 1 million New Jersey residents will automatically receive ANCHOR payments this year, with an additional 2 million eligible to apply, state officials announced. The property tax relief program, now in its third year, will distribute up to $1,750 in tax rebates to homeowners and renters.
Letters and checks will be mailed starting August 19 to approximately 1.5 million individuals who have previously received payments, confirming their automatic eligibility. Most won’t need to reapply, but those with changes in address, name, or bank account must file a new application by September 15.
Another 2 million residents will receive letters with application instructions, with a deadline of November 30. This year’s program uses 2021 property tax information and features enhanced security measures, including online identity verification.
Payments will be issued starting in November, with improvements made to the ANCHOR call center, including doubled representatives and an automatic callback feature. For more information, visit anchor.nj.gov or call the ANCHOR hotline at (609) 826-4282 or 1-888-238-1233.
