Shortly after 10:30pm last evening, the Toms River Police Department alerted Lakewood Police that a 16-year-old male was at Community Medical Center with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg.
Further investigation suggests that the incident occurred in the area of Davina Court in Lakewood. Area residents advised responding officers that they heard what sounded like gunshots approximately 30 minutes earlier.
According to the victim, he as well as several other occupants of a motor vehicle, were meeting with at least one other person when gunshots rang out. He was then transported to the hospital by his friends for treatment.
