A 15-year-old boy sadly passed away after being pulled from the ocean in Sandy Hook on Monday afternoon.
Five other swimmers were rescued as well, in what was likely an incident of a dangerous rip current pulling swimmers out to sea.
Authorities said three were taken to Monmouth Medical Center and two were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
The incident unfolded around 4:30 pm Monday at Sandy Hook’s Beach B, located at the very tip of the Jersey Shore within the Gateway Recreation Area, which is managed by the National Park Service but doesn’t have lifeguards on duty at the beach.
