Lakewood Police are investigating a shooting that occurred a short time ago in the area of Pearl Street and Route 88.
Authorities confirm that a 14-year-old boy was shot during what appears to have been an armed robbery. Emergency responders rushed to the scene and began lifesaving measures.
The teen was transported to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood with CPR in progress and is reported to be in critical condition. Advanced Life Support units were on board during transport.
LPD remains on scene as the investigation continues. Additional details will be released as they become available.
